Atelier des Lumière: Digital Museum of Fine Art

As if Paris did not have enough places to visit, it added a one more attraction to its list. In the age of evolving technology, a digital museum is a must have. That’s exactly what Atelier des Lumière is; a digital museum of fine art.

The museum is located in Rue Saint-Maur, in Paris’ 11th arrondissement, which is known to be a diverse, hip district. The building, that is now home to the museum, actually used to be a factory. The museum was created, with a large young audience in mind, that does not visit museums or galleries, but loves to take pictures and showcases them. The museum’s way is “an exciting way to discover the Art.” Atelier des Lumière, translates as the Workshop of Lights, and it really lights up the visitors.

The museum consists of an area of 35 000 square foot and every inch of the space is used. The art is projected on a 32 feet tall walls and even on the floor. There are 140 projectors and 50 speakers, to enhance an unforgettable experience. Visitors can see the projection of 19th and 20th century artists: Gustav Klimt, Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Egon Schiele. And this is not all, there is a place in the museum for other well established or lesser known, emerging artists as well. To top it all, the exhibition is accompanied by compositions of Wagner, Chopin and Beethoven.

So, if you are happen to be in Paris, and Louvre is not your cup of tea, then this place is great for you.
