Cano’s Castle: Colorado’s Aluminum Castle
Most people are unaware that there is a castle in Colorado. Cano’s Castle—as the leaning, mostly aluminum structure is known—is unlike any medieval castle that you will see in France or Italy.
Cano’s Castle was constructed by a reclusive military veteran named Dominic Espinoza. “Cano” is Dominic’s nickname. Cano’s Castle features an impressive hodgepodge of hubcaps. repurposed cans, and stone. Cano can be a bit elusive about his true motivations for building Cano’s Castle, but it is clear that his devotion to Jesus played a sizable role.
Visitors can tour the grounds of Cano’s Castle at no cost. If you wish to converse with Mr. Cano, be prepared to pay a small fee. Cano’s Castle is part spaceship, part funhouse, part church, and a dash of something that your wildest imagination could never even conceive of. Cano’s attention to detail and devotion to his constantly evolving aluminum palace is truly impressive.
