Famous Wheels and more – Volo Auto Museum, Illinois
You don’t have to be a car enthusiast, to enjoy this one of a kind auto museum. Located 50 miles off Chicago and easily accessible by train, the Volo Auto Museum packs a variety of auto exhibits. The collection fascinates even the most casual visitors, as there are some of most recognizable and famous wheels from pop culture.
The museum was founded in 1960 and started off as a car dealership for unrestored cars. Who knew that this once small family-owned dealership, would soon grow to house over 33 exhibits. The museum features various ranges of classic vehicles of the 1900’s, to vintage scooters and various other historic car models. It doesn’t end there, they even have a special pop culture section dedicated to many famous vehicles, as seen on TV and comic books. This includes the world’s largest collection of Batmobiles, that include some of the actual vehicles used in the original TV shows and movies. There’s even a replica of the stone-aged Flintstones family car, as well as Luke Skywalker’s Land Speeder, from the Star Wars franchise.
