Magical Bridge of Light in an Indonesian Forest
Close to the town of Lembang in West Java province, Indonesia, is the Orchid Forest Cikole. It is a wooded area, which is home to the biggest collection of orchids in the country.
However, the vibrant colors of white, magenta, purple, pink, and yellow of the pretty blooming plants are not the only reason to visit this gorgeous place.
Besides the 20,000 orchids kept within the 10 hectares of the forest, there is a long wooden bridge. The bridge is 492 feet long and it is hanging 75 feet meters above a valley. The structure winds invitingly, between the tall pine trees that tower over it.
The forest’s natural elevation is 5577 feet above sea level. So, make sure to breathe in the the cool, clean air, as you make your way across the steps and wooden slats of the bridge.
Surely the best time to experience it is on a night. That’s because as dusk falls, the bridge is illuminated by soft yellow lighting, adding an even more magical air to an already enchanting forest.
Besides providing a simple way to see the forest for hikers of most abilities, a stroll over the bridge offers stunning views. Incredible photo opportunities appear at every turn, as the beauty of the forest is revealed with each step.
For children, the forest has a rabbit playground and feeding ground. The beautifully maintained grounds also have a prayer house, camping ground, café, and souvenir shop, as well as an impressive outdoor amphitheater that regularly hosts arts and music shows.
Don’t miss a chance to visit the forest, especially on evening. As the night sets in, the bridge winds through the pine trees, while its seemingly endless number of lights disappear into the forest. This sight will surely linger longest in the memory.
