  1. Because the cause is totally unknown it is unscientific and misleading to state that it is natural.
    It might be.
    it might not be.
It could just as easily be an ancient saw cut for all we know.

    1. Have you seen the cut stones at Baalbek, Lebanon? Rocks that weigh over one million pounds, cut and moved to a location and were later used as a foundation by the romans for a temple. The foundation stones predate recorded history, no dating possible, nothing known about the people who cut them.

      1. The large rocks (pregnant woman) are around 1000 tons. To put this in context. Around 1700 Catherine the great gifted a statue to St Petersburg in Russia. Its plinth currently weighs 1250 ton though started out at 1round 1500 tons. The block started out from Finland and was dragged to St Petersburg. No machinery, no animals. 400 men and nine months including a trip on a specially made barge.

The area around Baalbeck is prone to serious landslides. It is my view that the recently found monolith was buried in such a landslide, possibly taking the work teams with it.

The monoliths were part of a retaining wall. This much is evident from looking at the site. Even with the massive restraints, some have expressed surprise that the temple site has survived. Another thing rarely mentioned: The quarries are above the site. They would never have needed to lift these stones. And the Romans were unquestionably expert in cutting/moving stone. Their methods and techniques are well documented.

    2. like pyramids on Mars MUST BE natural so on Earth might be, too.
and that ancient temple “Ellora caves” could be a natural phenomena, same like life, universe, etc..
I think scientists might actually not really exist..

  2. Great find. Assuming that this really exists, scientists are claiming that:
    A large rock broke apart.
The crack is almost perfectly straight, both in the horizontal and vertical axis.
Both pieces are strangely in balance.
They came apart due to natural influences, without toppling off their pedestals when they broke apart.
Both pieces remained equidistant as well.
Coincidentally, there are drawings on them.
    Seriously?

    1. Yes, it happens. If you were not told that the stones at ‘The Giant’s Causeway’ in Ireland, you would be forgiven for thinking they were man-made.

      1. given example has nothing to do with a structure of a material of the split rock .
following your logic, pyramids are natural like Giants Causeway is and that could prove everything while proves nothing except for Giants Causeway to be natural.
“modern” ego has a problem to accept ancient technologies while there is more than enough of examples..
but I understand and somehow respect a need of having any explanation for a sake of comfort and preserving confidence in the subject.
please, keep in mind, than recently we hold so much of scientific garbage theories and explanation just because we have to hold onto something until something better and more consistent is provided. just look at the past and all scientific nonsense at which kids would laugh today but was seen as nearly ultimate and only true.
JUST BECAUSE IT MIGHT HURT A PRIDE AND EXPOSE FOOLISHNESS OF THE MODERN THINGS

P.S. I have no problem to believe that one day kids will be thought in schools that Facebook and Apple always existed out there accordingly to studies that recently young people in America accept commercial in formations, advertisements as source of knowledge.

  3. Why that (as me) imaginary stone can be seen from only one view? Why there are not further views about that stone?

    1. I have seen the other side of that rock and it is full of vertical splits with sections falling away. The popular photo shown is, in my view, a deliberate attempt to create a mystery out of nothing. Rocks like sandstone/granite absolutely do split to a flat surface which is what happened here and is happening on the other side.

      1. No they do not, yes they break apart with a smooth cut surface but not that straighf. Even now we do not havr the technology to cut rock with that precision.

  4. i wonder if the surface where the petroglyph is has also been cut as well and i wonder if there is a image on the surfaces facing each other ?

  5. So we really don’t know what caused it, only a bunch of speculation. And you can’t prove the non existence of something, so saying it was caused my natural causes only is incorrect. I’m wondering, were the stone images carved first and then the stone split? I’m speculating that it was either caused somehow by ancient civilizations or else… Aliens… What else is concerning is how the stone didn’t lose its balance when it was a
    spilt?

  6. Martin, I don’t understand your comments… when you bash science by writing people used to believe this or that – what is your point? This is exactly what science is… in fact, every scientist in the world would love to be proven wrong about his/her/its theory if it leads to the true answer. Science is continually evolving and always searching for the best, most logical, and hopefully – correct answer.

  7. Nothing about this is I natural. All the questions here are mostly VERY valid and the conclusions “scientists” make are speculations that do not answer those valid questions. If it were small enough those same scientists would have put it in a locked room and called it an “out of place artifact” like they do everything they don’t understand or ia easily fit into their assumptions. Yes, in the case of megalithic structures archeological answers are often entirely assumed “facts”. They say “maybe” “could be” as they speculate their way to “IT IS” what a ridiculous way to conduct science. ‘They’ are just starting to agree many findings “could be caused by a great global flooding “washing of the oceans across all the lands, like a tidal wave” and, I think, most of us amateurs, observing and reading, Know that happened!
I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AL NASLAA “ROCK FORMATION” IS ONE ROCK, That split or was cut down the middle. As far as i can see it is clear THE TWO SIDES DO NOT MATCH ACROSS THE CUT(split)..And, as JESSICA says, if a rock this size split and shifted (so sides do not match) the energy of that would have caused a great deal of movement.
I believe some being created the AL Naslaa Rock Formation as a piece of art. Because they could! Taking two separate, closely dimensioned, stones and flattening 2 sides of each then creating footings and pedestals to cement and secure them in place.. pmy opinion as a design engineer working with structures is that there are probably stone pins running through the pedestals into the rocks. They may never move.
And as “the most photographed formation at the site they have created an artwork art piece that rivals and surpasses the carved building facias at the site. AL Naslaa rock formation is a sculpture; An amazing and beautiful abstract art instalation… note even the cliff faces each side of the British channel match! Rock strata does not change within the width of a crack?

  8. If the cut was made by humans, how the heck did they calculate the exact spot to cut it so both halves would suspend perfectly on their own?

  9. God has given us intelligence to use it …worldwide are scattered with megaliths and dolmen that are clearly man made …if these two rocks are split in half by nature , how come that crack is from top to bottom with millimeter precision the same width ?!…

  10. Adding to my last comment , other than being cut purposely , the right rock has been carved nicely at the edge of where it has been cut , nature won’t carve a rock when splitting it !! look at the picture, the edge of left rock is different from edge of right rock where was cut

  11. For all those amazed that it remained perfectly balanced “after being split;” it most likely split first while surrounded by softer rock and then weathered to its current form over many years and luckily remained balanced, unlike the bazillions of similar rocks that just fell over.

  12. Good morning,
I think I was fortunate enough that I could solve the mystery of the split rock in Saudi Arabia ‘The Al Naslaa Rock’ This can be proved very easily with some support from the experts. This could be a breaking news. With the information I got about the split rock, I can confirm that this is man made structure, It has got a purpose and the purpose can be linked to the people lived there centuries ago.

This place can become even more popular when the hypothesis can be proved.

All I need is an expert to confirm my findings. This can be proved instantly.

    Many thanks

  13. I am the grandson of a Master Brick layer, and third generation contractor, I’ve cut a lot of concrete, stone and some brick.
The above stone is not an natural occurrence. I live in Northwest Arkansas, the land of Rock!
Stones don’t crack perfectly square, plumb, and perpendicular to each other.

All rock, some types of rock more than others have a grain so to speak. Yes they crack naturally, but rarely if ever with the smooth chiseled precision of using a large high pressure water knife.

Somebody needs to rewrite the article. Poor explanation.
