Escape to a Desert Oasis – Huacachina, Peru

Derived from the Quechua language, the name ‘Huacachina’ means “young crying woman”. According to a legend, an Incan princess fell in love with a prince, who soon died. Troubled by her grief, the young princess cried tears, that eventually formed into a lagoon. The Huacachina Lagoon can be found in the center of the oasis and is believed to be therapeutic. Some visitors choose to relax there amidst the swaying palm trees, while others prefer adventure.
There are various tours available, with all sorts of sand-related thrilling activities. Dune buggies and sand boarding, are the most popular among visitors. If you’re looking for a more unique and one-of-a-kind sight for your travel photography, definitely check out the Nazca Lines. These are the crop circles for the ancient Incas and come in fascinating geometric shapes of people, animals and designs, that can only be viewed properly by booking a flight on a Cessna.
