Natural Beauty Of Kashmir Valley
India has a lot to offer to visitors: famous Taj Mahal and Hawa Mahal, forts, palaces and temples. But, India’s nature is equally admirable as well.
Located in Jammu and Kashmir state, the Kashmir Valley is surrounded by the Pir Panjal range on the southwest and by the Himalayas range on the northeast. It is about 85 miles long and 20 miles wide. Every inch of it is abundant with lush forests, plants, flowers, lakes and rivers.
From the ancient times, the Kashmir region has been very important religious center. First, it was a hub of Hinduism and Buddhism and later Muslim religions. It has seen many rulers, till Partition of India in 1947. The division of British India created two independent colonies: India and Pakistan. Since then, the region has been a subject of a territorial dispute between India, Pakistan and China. However, the Kashmir valley is administered by India.
The valley can be visited year round, but spring is the best time to really appreciate nature’s artistry. When Almond trees blossom and field of multicolored tulips bloom, spring is not only in the air, but all around.
In the summer the weather is warm, so climbing mountains, trekking, swimming or rafting in the lakes and rivers is a must. Hiking through mountain passes, Alpine forest, colorful meadows alongside lakes is challenging and enjoyable.
Visitors must not leave the Kashmir valley, without conquering twin lakes: Tarsar and Marsar. With the elevation of over 12,000 feet, getting to the lakes requires a lot of stamina, but the experience is unforgettable.
