The Greek Islands have a magic to them—perfect for a honeymoon. The problem is, with 227 inhabited islands, picking just one, along with the best luxury Greece tours, isn’t easy. Some couples are all about the food. Others? Beaches. History. Adventure. You name it, Greece has it. Sail, snorkel, or hike—the options are endless. Some islands whisper romance, others scream nightlife. A place to relax, party, or a little of both? That’s what we’re here to figure out.
1. Crete

It’s the biggest Greek island there is. You could spend weeks exploring, but at least a solid seven days are non-negotiable. Famous beaches, old villages, Cretan food—nothing here is boring. However, one spot stands out: The Palace of Knossos. Ever heard of King Minos? The Minotaur? Yeah, that’s the place.
Over on the western side, the beaches might be better, but it depends on what you like. Chania, for example, is medieval, charming, and lively. The harbor is packed with restaurants, tavernas, and life.
Head inward, and there’s gelato, boutiques, and more. Eastern Crete, though, is where the luxe resorts are, all lined up against shockingly blue water. Elounda, Agios Nikolaos—those places mix culture and beauty like nowhere else.
Want a little adventure? Hike the Samaria Gorge, a stunning canyon that’ll leave you breathless. Or head to Balos Lagoon, where turquoise waters and pink sand make you feel like you’re on another planet. Crete isn’t just big; it’s diverse, with mountains, caves, and hidden beaches waiting to be discovered.
2. Milos

Postcard-perfect—that’s Milos. Whitewashed houses, windmills, and beaches are like something out of a dream. The water is unreal—shades of green and blue you didn’t know existed. Southwest Cyclades is where Milos sits, tucked away like a secret.
Mornings in Plaka; that’s the best move. Cobbled streets, little alleys, and views from an old Byzantine church on the hill are worth it. Spend evenings with your feet in the sand and the ocean sparkling in the last light of the day.
The best time to come is September or maybe October. Crowds are gone, and romance is in full force. Stay at Milos Breeze for the views and sunset. Enough said. And if you want a day you’ll never forget, hop on a boat and explore Kleftiko’s sea caves. The cliffs, the water, and the experience are unreal.
3. Santorini

Everyone has heard of it. Santorini may be the most famous Greek island, and for good reason. Views are unreal. The beaches are perfect, and the water is glass-clear. This place is built for honeymooners.
Wake up slowly and enjoy breakfast with a view. Stay somewhere special—Grace Santorini, maybe. Then, out you go. Want history? Walk the trail from Oia to Fira. The views along the way are insane.
Evening hits, and it’s boat time. Private, just you two. Cruising the caldera, the sun sinking, and the sky turning fire-orange. Nothing can beat it. Avoid summer, though. Spring or autumn are more ideal, with less chaos and the same beauty.
For a deeper dive into history, visit Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan city preserved in volcanic ash. Like Pompeii, but Greek.
4. Rhodes

Rhodes is history wrapped in romance. The largest island in the Dodecanese, and it shows Medieval Rhodes Town. UNESCO-listed, ancient, jaw-dropping! Walking those cobbled streets feels like stepping into another world.
The castle is huge, and the Palace of the Grand Masters is now a museum full of stories. Not into history? No problem. Rhodes has beaches, waterfalls, and even a whole valley of butterflies fluttering around in summer. Nature enthusiasts will love it here.
Want a little extra magic? Head to Lindos, a whitewashed town with an ancient acropolis towering over it. And if you’re craving a romantic beach, St. Paul’s Bay is the perfect spot to soak up the sun.
5. Ios

The Blue Island, they call Ios. Nicknamed the “Island of Youth”, it’s known for parties, but don’t let that fool you. Honeymooners find magic here, too. Calilo Resort is pure art. Pathos Club is a sunset-like movie scene.
And those beaches—Mylopotas, Manganari, Kalamos—are the ones you need to remember. Soft sand and clear blue water. This island’s got a secret, too. Homer, the poet, is buried here. If you love history, you’ll feel it in the air.
For a change of pace, hike to Odysseas Elytis Theater. It’s open-air, carved into the hillside, and the view is worth every step.
6. Skopelos

If you’ve seen Mamma Mia, then you’ve seen Skopelos. Green hills, blue sea, olive groves—it’s like a dream. Honeymooners come here for peace—no crowds, just beauty.
Glysteri Beach is where they filmed part of the movie. And the olive trees are the ones from Sophie’s wedding scene. Yeah, those are real.
The town is storybook pretty. White walls, terracotta roofs, and a grand old Venetian fortress watching over it all.
Want a bit more adventure? Kayak along the coast. The cliffs, caves, and hidden beaches make it an unforgettable experience.
7. Koufonisia

Hard to get to, but worth every second. Koufonisia comprises two islands, Pano and Kato. Instagram made them famous, but they still feel like a secret. Milky-blue water, little white cottages—everything you picture when you think of Greek Island paradise.
No cars, no rush; just sun, sea, and slow living. Take the Skopelitis Express ferry from Naxos or Amorgos—it feels like time travel. Water taxis can take you to hidden bays, or you can simply walk. The islands are tiny and easy to explore.
And the swimming scene is unreal. Rocky cliffs form natural pools, just big enough for two. Take a picnic at Italida Beach, where the water is so clear you won’t believe your eyes. Or grab a seafood dinner at a tiny taverna where the fish was probably caught that morning.
Wrapping Up
So, where to go? That’s up to you. Every Greek Island has its own rhythm, its own charm. Whether it’s adventure, history, beaches, or just you and your person lost in a perfect place—Greece has an island for that.
