Carlsbad Caverns: The Majestic Beauty Below the Surface

If you want a more adventurous experience, check out the cave’s natural entrance. After descending 800 feet of switchbacks, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the deserts of Southern New Mexico.

Another popular attraction is the Hall of the White Giant. This is a room filled with spectacular limestone formations that have been slowly formed over time. Be sure to bring your camera—you’ll want to take lots of photos!

If you’re feeling brave, take a tour of the King’s Palace. This section of the cave was only recently discovered and is full of underground streams, deep pools, and other hidden secrets.

The vast majority of Carlsbad Caverns is not lit, so it’s important to bring a good flashlight if you plan on exploring deep into the depths of the caverns.
